Still Such a Miracle by Emily Zecchini

She focuses with her all on the ball, 
impatiently ready to bat. 
It’s a miracle to still stand, 
battered and bruised as she is. 
Eyes watch, eager for the too many missed pitches. 
Somehow, she hasn’t quit…or…given in, 
walking up…ahead…the fielders running to the ditches.

Emily Zecchini is a senior at University of the Cumberlands majoring in Creative Writing and double minoring in Communications and Psychology. When not at school, she lives in Jellico, Tennessee. This is her second year volunteering for Pensworth.
