The Next Generation Creative Writing Contest is open to students, grades 8-12, who attend a school within a 200 mile radius of Williamsburg, Kentucky.
Rules and Procedures

- Prizes will be $100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third place.
- Each contestant may submit only one piece.
- Teachers may submit their students’ work, but they must enter each piece individually.
- Judges for the contest will evaluate entries solely on the basis of literary quality. If the judges feel that no entry has sufficient merit, they may choose not to award prizes.
- Winners will be announced and prizes awarded in spring. The first place winner will be published in Pensworth’s online spring issue.
- First place winners of one year’s contest are not eligible for prizes the following year.
