Evergreen by Kayla Russell

When life is full of dying trees
There is bound to be an evergreen
That’s planted in your memory
Though the surroundings may seem cold

Remember, please, the sparse old leaves
Reminding you that you are free
That joy and hope come like a breeze
Because God has commanded your soul

Kayla Russell is a sophomore studying English with an emphasis in Literary Studies. Even though her emphasis is not creative writing, she does enjoy writing, mostly poetry, in her spare time. She loves talking and reading so she really chose the right major for her! When she is not writing, Kayla is often at the library, working with Appalachian Ministries, or hanging out with friends.
